Lease Then Own With Sunglow
Sunglow offers homeowners a revolutionary approach to the economics of a solar water heater.
It is a pretty simple arrangement.
First off, you select the product you want from our list of approved Suppliers.
You sign a standard 7 year Sunglow Lease Agreement which has a Maximum Lease Amount of $4,000 after deducting the value of the system's RECs. For example, if the quote for the installed system was $5,500 and the RECs were worth $1,500, then the Lease Amount would be equal to the Maximum Lease Amount of $4,000.
When we set up the quarterly Lease Payments, that are paid every quarter over the life of the lease, there is currently an Agreed Value equal to 23% of the initial Lease Amount and that value is our best estimate of market value of the complete system after 7 years of normal use. You are under no obligation to pay this amount at the end of the lease, but if you return the complete system to Sunglow, we would hope to sell the 7 year old system by way of public auction for at least that amount.
We assist you to organise the paperwork for all available government concessions to which you may be entitled.
Depending on the solar heater model you choose and the concessions you qualify for, you may receive cash payments directly from various government agencies shortly after installation.
The goal is for you to pay nothing up front, other than a $35 Lease Establishment Fee. Not bad on a $4,500 to $5,500 system. But of course you are free to top up and pay more if you want to buy a more expensive system, or perhaps you may have to pay a little extra yourself if the installation cost is above normal due to site difficulties.
At the end of 7 years, you return the complete system to Sunglow, or if you wish, you can make us an offer to purchase the complete system and if we accept your offer, the system is all yours with nothing more to pay.
If you are not sure what to do at the end of 7 years, you can just keep leasing at a significantly reduced quarterly rate, which is currently calculated to be less than 50% of your last quarterly lease payment. If you pay this significantly reduced rate for 3 years, then it becomes Sunglow's responsibility to remove the complete system from your property, or we have the right to leave it where it is, but you make no further payments.
Choice of brand and model
The lease deal with Sunglow is similar to a car lease, except with Sunglow, you do not need a deposit. As well, you have complete freedom to select the brand and style of solar water heater from Sunglow's list of approved Suppliers. These suppliers are Australia's leading brands, offering quality products with excellent warranties.
There are others, but if they don't meet our demanding quality review and supply arrangements, they don't make the list. After all, our name is attached to their quality so we must be choosey.
To put it simply, with Sunglow you lease a brand new long-life gas or electric boosted solar water heater with no up-front deposit, no installation costs, warranty support, a brand new tank, reduced energy bills, reduced carbon footprint and possibly extra cash payments from various government agencies.

Are you renting your home?
Unfortunately, Sunglow does not lease solar water heaters for rental properties, mainly because the term of the Sunglow Lease Agreement is longer than the term of most tenancy agreements.
Consequently, we provide the Sunglow Lease Agreement only to wholly owned or mortgaged residential properties.
